Boca Greens Goes Public

25 Apr 2010

The Boca Greens Country Club, which has been a private, equity-owned country club for nearly three decades, has morphed into a hybrid “semi-private” status that welcomes non-member golfers from the general public to play its highly regarded golf course, which was extensively renovated in the past few years.

The club now offers four membership choices for non-residents of Boca Greens:
Annual Inclusive
Annual Social
Summer 2010
Dining

If these membership programs are not for you, you can also play golf on a per diem basis for as little as $30.

For further information about the above choices, see the club’s website at http://www.bocagreenscountryclub.comor call Kelly Dunn at 852-8800 x 222.

Boca Greens is one of the few country club communities in Boca Raton that never required its residents to be members of the country club.  Most of the original owners – primarily recent retirees migrating from up north – became club members when they bought their Boca Greens homes in the 1980s.

Over time, however, the percentage of Boca Greens owners who chose not to become club members rose steadily, and now represent about 80% of the community (which is slightly smaller than the Lakes).  Optional membership has forced the club to be more innovative and flexible than mandatory membership communities like Woodfield, Polo Club, Broken Sound and Boca Grove, whose club facilities are only open to those who own homes there, and whose operating costs are borne entirely by those owners.
