Comcast Survey Results

21 Jun 2010

Of the 128 homes that responded to last week’s survey – about a 25% response -- 61% reported that they were no longer having the kind of Cable TV problems that were almost universal in the previous survey conducted a few months ago.

Among the 50 homes (39%) that were continuing to have problems with Comcast, some reported problems with services that are not part of the HOA bulk Cable TV service – Internet and phone service, DVR recorder boxes, and various channel package upgrades that some residents had contracted for directly with Comcast.

The primary complaints about our bulk service were:

1. About half of the 50 homes that reported having reception problems like tiling, snowy or blurry images, pixilation issues and flashing.

2. Another 12 reported problems with frozen screens or screens blacking out.

3. Eight reported continuing problems with the On Demand feature.

Six of the 50 homes with problems reported having switched to AT&T’s U-Verse, and several more said they were seriously considering such a change. One switched to Direct TV. A number of others complained about being locked into Comcast bulk cable service for the next nine years.

A number of those with continuing problems indicated that they weren’t as severe as was the case several months ago.

Overall, the survey results indicate that bulk Cable TV service in the Lakes has improved for most residents since the Board summoned top Comcast execs to its April Board meeting to demand better Cable TV service in the Lakes.
