Message from the President

by Vinnie Aquilina -- Lakes at Boca Raton HOA President

I would like to take a moment to thank all of the homeowners who sent in feedback e-mails about the new directional signs that were installed last week. The great majority of the e-mails were positive, but the criticisms were appreciated too. This feedback will help  guide the direction the HOA’s Board of Directors is taking to update the community.

Our community is one of the oldest in our area. Our goal as a Board is to move forward with phase two of our signing makeover plan to address the Cain and Yamato monument as well as the 441 and Yamato monuments and the one at the entrance to the Community Center.  We also need to decide the fate of the three unsigned monuments on Yamato, two of which are at the entrance to the commercial complex anchored by Ace Hardware.

Another project we are currently working on is to completely re-landscape the roundabout on Cain, both to make it easier to see oncoming traffic and to make it more attractive.

The Board is facing challenging times with the economy. Our community has 653 homes, and ideally if every member paid their quarterly dues on time, the Board could move forward at a better pace. At the moment the Lakes is facing an 18 to 20% delinquency rate, which is slowing down progress. Please be patient with the Board. We are very active in various ways trying to reduce the percentage of late homeowner payments as well as non-payments.  You can help us make progress by paying your assessments on time. Thank you for your support and timely payments.
